Broken Pledges
Related by more than just blood.
In 1993, while attending South Cuthbert University, Chase Dempsey made the decision to pledge the Kappa Chi Rho Fraternity. It was an enjoyable experience for him, until a night of hazing changed his life forever. His Pledge Brother, Chris Wilbanks, was now dead and many believed that Chase was to blame, even after he was cleared of all wrongdoing. The stigma would follow him for years as he waged battles both with others and with himself.
Nearly thirty years later, Chase is now a Homicide Detective in Philly, and is still embroiled in his own internal conflict regarding the events of that night. On the surface, he appears to have put the past behind him, or so he thought. One phone call from his son would thrust Chase back into a world that he hoped to never see again.
His son, Scott Dempsey is now himself a student at SCU and pledging Kappa Chi Rho and has found himself facing the same battle that his Father fought so many years ago. Scott is being investigated for the murder of his own Pledge Brother. The odds seem staggering. But it soon becomes clear that Scott is being framed, and that it was no accident that he was the one chosen. Everything points to a connection to Chris Wilbanks’ death.
Chase soon finds himself on a mission to save his son from a fate worse than his own. With the help of his wife, along with Scott’s girlfriend and his roommate, Chase would soon find himself on a mission to clear his Scott’s name. Is a specter from Chase’s past the one responsible for all of it?
